Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

An exciting opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support an elementary school setting in Charleston, SC. This contract position runs for the 2025-2026 school year and involves working one-on-one with students to facilitate effective munication and accessibility.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide professional sign language interpreting services for a student in an elementary school environment.
• Facilitate clear and accurate munication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and educators, peers, and staff.
• Support the students participation in classroom activities and school events by ensuring effective munication access.
• Collaborate with educators and support staff to understand lesson content and context for accurate interpretation.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards related to interpreting and student information.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Current certification as a Sign Language Interpreter.
• Minimum EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) score of 3.2.
• Experience working with elementary-age students preferred.
• Ability to provide one-on-one interpreting services with accuracy and professionalism.
• Strong understanding of educational environments and interpreting protocols.
