Position Summary

The Knowledge and Data Integration team is focused on improving the organization, alignment, and integration of biomedical and pharmaceutical data to accelerate early research and discovery. As the volume and complexity of data grows, robust taxonomies and effective data harmonization are critical for efficient data ingestion, analysis, and decision-making. The team is exploring the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Large Language Models (LLMs) to automate and enhance these processes. The qualifying candidate for this position will focus on the following key tasks: Taxonomy/Ontology Definition & Enhancement, Data Alignment & Integration, AI/LLM Application; and Documentation & Knowledge Sharing. This full-time internship will take place June - August 2026.

Key Responsibilities

Familiarity with biomedical/pharmaceutical data and ontologies. Experience with data wrangling, integration, and analysis (Python, R, SQL, etc.). Exposure to AI/ML concepts, especially LLMs and NLP techniques. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.

Qualifications & Experience

All candidates must be authorized to work in the US both at the time of hire and for the duration of their employment. Please note that immigration or visa sponsorship is not available for this position. This is a temporary, time-bound position intended for the duration of the internship or co-op program. Employment in this role does not imply or guarantee ongoing or permanent employment with BMS. The starting hourly compensation for this assignment is within the range of $27.00 to $35.00/hr. Please note that the final individual compensation and any applicable benefits will be determined by your employer of record (and not BMS). Factors influencing this decision may include the characteristics of the assignment, such as demonstrated experience, required skill, and the geographic location of the job.
