Job Summary:

On-site Project Management is a critical component of the management process and success on complicated, large jobs with demanding clients. The On-Site Project Manager works with and at the direction of the Senior Project Manager. Travel and living within proximity of jobsites across the U.S. is required for this position. On-site Project Managers must successfully communicate with all parties involved to ensure a cost-effective, schedule-sensitive, and team-oriented result. A keen ability to communicate regarding schedules, expectations to team members, and problems that must be resolved is necessary for success. An On-site Project Manager creates order, takes ownership of his or her projects, and serves as an ambassador of excellence, teamwork, integrity, reliability, and passion for a job well done.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Interact daily and continuously with the erection foreman to assist with coordination of materials, laydown/logistics, supply needs, etc.
  2. Set up and re-schedule deliveries with all steel shops, joist & deck, bolts (follow up with emails to vendors and cc office Project Manager).
  3. Attend weekly/daily meetings with the erector.
  4. Review deliveries of steel and immediately start coordinating directly with fabrication shops if anything is missing to resolve and expedite missing pieces.
  5. Work with erector to resolve fixes for any mis-fabricated and/or mis-detailed pieces to keep erection going. Immediately include office Project Manager with details to document issue(s). Use engineering as needed for field fixes and distribute documentation.
  6. Look ahead at concrete progress, anchor bolts, surveys of anchor bolts, crane, and access roads, etc. Coordinate with erector and contractor to prepare site for work and coordinate with other trades.
  7. Ensure erector addresses all inspection items and remedies them in a timely manner.
  8. Review and maintain a rolling punch list.
  9. Relay any changes in the field/directives from customer to office Project Manager for recording. Review erector time tickets for extra work to be submitted.
  10. Work a minimum of 5 days a week with the erector during their work hours and follow all on-site Safety requirements. Work extra time as required by the erection crew within the confines of agreement with management.
  11. Review and analyze manpower requirements and schedule progress. Work with office Project Manager to ensure dates are met and the erector is not falling behind.
  12. Observe safety measures in place by the erector and ensure OSHA, contractor, and company requirements are met.
  13. Communicate clearly and respectfully on behalf of the company to the contractor and other parties.
  14. Participate in pre-planning including sequencing, schedules, delivery timing, site coordination, and pre-erection meetings with erector and contractor.
  15. Maintain minimum OSHA 30-Hour certification.
  16. Log work time daily using TimeStar through Citrix (mobile platform) and code time to jobs.
  17. Perform other duties as required by management.

Qualifications and Requirements

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • High level competency in Bluebeam, PDFs, Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, and common computer skills
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Knowledge of steel erection and safety best practices

Preferred:

  • OSHA 10- or 30-Hour training
  • Some experience in the construction or engineering industry through work, internships, or part-time employment
  • Continuing education in project management training, organization, and leadership development is strongly encouraged
