General Job Summary:

Under the general direction of the Manager, Clinical Education, the Medical Examiner/Funeral Home Coordinator is responsible for a variety of duties, serving as a resource for Education Team related training within the organization, with a particular focus on supporting Medical Examiner/ Funeral Home priorities. Their scope of responsibilities includes Funeral Home and Medical Examiner correspondence, reports, videos, and associated documentation and tracking compliance requirements. The Coordinator also participates in Donation University related programs, in collaboration with Education Team members and department level leaders in the coordination of all education and training related initiatives. The Medical Examiner/Funeral Home Coordinator also provides administrative support and coordination for all Medical Examiner and Funeral Home internal and external programs.

The successful candidate will be self-motivated, possess the ability to use discretion in all HR and Education matters, maintain confidentiality, work autonomously, have excellent writing and editing abilities, be comfortable in most computer programs and use good judgment in establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.

Position will require travel to Infinite Legacy regional offices.

Education and Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in human resources, education, communication, psychology or related field from an accredited college or university; or in lieu of a Bachelor's degree, 2 years of work experience in mortuary science.
  2. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in health sciences preferred.

  • Organized, detail oriented, adept at learning new concepts and strategies and able to competently ensure all activities are completed accurately and in a timely manner
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, rules, statutes, and codes related to organ, eye, and tissue donation.
  • Maintains confidentiality related to all aspects of interactions with new and tenured employees related to performance
  • Maintains confidentiality of all clinical information and donor records reviewed as part of job scope.
  • Ability to travel to Infinite Legacy regional offices.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for timely internal and external correspondence including, but not limited to, Funeral home and Office of the Chief Medical Examiners (OCME) outcome letters etc.
  2. Collaborates with other Infinite Legacy departments for the completion of all Funeral Home and Medical Examiner process administrative requirements.
  3. Responsible for compliance, reconciliation and auditing requirements related to Medical Examiner donor process requirements, to include videos, images, reports and associated documentation.
  4. Participates in Funeral Home program activities, to include planning and deploying Funeral Home Open Houses and regular rounding activities throughout the Infinite Legacy service area.
  5. Provides administrative support to the Medical Examiner/Funeral Home liaison and Education team, including, but not limited to taking/distributing meeting minutes scanning, filing, data entry, creation of visual presentations, scheduling meetings, drafting, and typing routine correspondence and memos.
  1. Facilitates the presentation of select training topics, including Medical Examiner and Funeral Home processes, administered through a variety of educational venues such as Donation University, continuing education offerings, hospital sites and external partnerships.
  1. Participates in the development, dissemination and evaluation of surveys and webinars related to Medical Examiner and Funeral Home training programs to participants and collates results and performs analysis.
  1. Assists in Donation University and Simulation Center activities included but not limited to, booking rooms, simulation space set up, and running AV related equipment.
  1. Researches Medical Examiner and Funeral Home related professional organizations to remain current national best practices associated with the donation process.
  1. All other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

This position requires consistent availability and frequent travel, along with certain physical, language, and communication abilities, including:

  1. Possible exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, pharmacological agent, with likelihood of harm if established health precautions are not followed.
  2. Must maintain a valid driver’s license and have reliable personal automobile to be used with company reimbursement, using IRS guidelines.
  3. Primarily works in a normal office environment where there are no physical discomforts due to temperature, noise, dust, etc.
  4. Requires occasional work in the field, donor hospitals, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, Funeral Homes and other clinical locations.
  5. Requires occasional same day and overnight travel to off-site meetings and functions.
  6. Manual dexterity sufficient to operate telephones and computers.
  7. Vision correctable to 20/20 to read electronic medical charts and computer screens. Frequent and prolonged use of computer screen may produce visual fatigue.
  8. Possible mental fatigue and stress associated with emergencies and management issues.
  9. Ability to accurately communicate, converse, and exchange information in English over the telephone and in person.
  10. Computer literacy in a Microsoft Windows environment and demonstrated competency in the use of Microsoft Office software programs.
  11. This position is Level 1 – High level exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens and TB. Staff members are in clinical settings and have direct contact with donors or donor organs and tissues through donor assessment, management, recovery, and processing.
