Pooled Positions:
This recruitment is an open applicant pool for Campus Recreation at Western Oregon University. Applications will be
reviewed on an "as needed" basis.


Department / Job Summary:
Club Sports are designed to serve those that have an interest in committing to an organized sport while at WOU. Club
Sports can be recreational, or instructional in nature. However, most WOU Club Sports are competitive and represent
Western Oregon University in intercollegiate competition. Club Sports teams regularly participate in scheduled practices,
may employ part-time coaches, and many compete against other schools across Oregon, the Pacific Northwest, and the
nation.


Additionally, Club Sports provide students-officers with a unique learning experience that allows for the development of
skills such as team leadership, public relations, fundraising, budgeting, and scheduling. Involvement in a group and team
setting creates opportunities to enhance the student's overall experiences at Western Oregon University.

Women's Soccer Club
Men's Soccer Club
Women's+ Rugby Club

Men's Rugby Club
Women's Volleyball Club
Men's Lacrosse Club


Job Description:
The role of a club sports head coach is to provide instructional and coaching elements of the club's activity to help the
team work towards achieving its goals. As a student-run organization, all administrative aspects of the team are the
responsibility of the student officers, not the head coach. This includes, but is not limited to, scheduling, space requests,
travel plans, purchases and other financial transactions, fundraising efforts, and prospective player inquiries. sport while at
WOU.


Salary:
In most cases, this is a volunteer position. However, club officers may elect to offer a stipend. Any stipend amount varies
depending on the length of the season.


Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift 15 pounds regularly

Ability to work around air that ranges in temperature and humidity


Head Coach


Minimum Qualifications (Essential functions):
Direction and supervision of team practices and competitions
Attendance at all practices and competitions
Supervision of the team during trips
Adherence to all Western Oregon University (WOU) and governing association regulations
Commitment to the development of club sport student-athletes
Ability to work effectively with student-athletes, Campus Recreation staff, and WOU
Knowledge of the club's governing body and rules related to the sport
Serve as an official representative of Campus Recreation and WOU Club Sport functions


Preferred Qualifications:
American Red Cross CPR/AED & First Aid Certification for the Professional Rescuer
1-3+ years of coaching experience and/or previous varsity or club sport experience
Expertise in the technical aspects of the sport
Strong organizational and communication skills


Assistant Head Coach


Minimum Qualifications (Essential functions):
Assist head coach with the direction and supervision of team practices and competitions
Assist with supervision of the team during trips
Adherence to all Western Oregon University (WOU) and governing association regulations
Commitment to the development of club sport student-athletes
Ability to work effectively with student-athletes, Campus Recreation staff, and WOU
Knowledge of the club's governing body and rules related to the sport


Preferred Qualifications:
American Red Cross CPR/AED & First Aid Certification for the Professional Rescuer

Previous varsity or club sport experience
