Flight Nurse Responsibilities Provides safe and quality care to critically ill or injured patients being transported. Also promotes a professional image of the Medflight program in the community. Specialty certification (CEN, CCRN, or CFRN) ACLS Provider/instructor PALS Provider NRP Provider TNCC Arkansas State Registry EMT BLS Provider Must be able to meet a body weight limit of less than 230 lbs due to safety protocols and equipment limitations when performing patient lifts and during flight operations. Minimum of 3 years of current registered nursing experience in critical care and/or emergency nursing (i.e. ICU, CVICU, ER, or CCU). If a RN has 2 years of critical care and/or emergency nursing experience and 3 years of EMS experience at the Paramedic level in a critical care and/or emergency setting, they may be considered eligible for flight nurse status. A Paramedic with 3 years of flight experience may be allowed to transition into the Flight Nurse role provided that they successfully complete a program specific flight nurse orientation. Must be a certified EMT.
