We are seeking a skilled and proactive ArcGIS Enterprise System Administrator to oversee the deployment, configuration, maintenance, and support of Esri’s ArcGIS Enterprise platform. This individual will ensure the high availability, performance, and security of the GIS infrastructure, while also supporting users and applications that rely on geospatial services throughout the organization. Responsibilities will include managing cloud-based architecture and implementing lift-and-shift solutions from on-premises systems to the cloud. This position has the potential to lead to a full-time employment opportunity.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install and configure ArcGIS Enterprise components, including Portal for ArcGIS, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Data Store, and ArcGIS Web Adaptor.
• Administer and maintain ArcGIS Enterprise environments (single-machine and multi-machine deployments).
• Perform upgrades, patches, and migrations of ArcGIS Enterprise and related software.
• Plan and execute the migration of ArcGIS Enterprise environments from on-premises infrastructure to cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure), ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity.
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues related to GIS services, authentication, integrations, and hardware/software environments.
• Configure SSL certificates, reverse proxies, federated servers, and security settings.
• Manage user roles, permissions, content, groups, and sharing settings within ArcGIS Portal.
• Automate administrative tasks using Python, PowerShell, or ArcGIS REST API.
• Collaborate with GIS analysts, developers, and IT infrastructure teams to support geospatial workflows and applications.
• Document configurations, procedures, and best practices.
• Ensure compliance with organizational IT policies and Esri licensing agreements.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Proven experience administering ArcGIS Enterprise (Portal, Server, Data Store, Web Adaptor).
• Strong understanding of Windows Server environments, including IIS and Active Directory.
• Proficiency with geospatial concepts and services (Map Services, Feature Services, REST endpoints).
• Familiarity with SSL, firewalls, load balancers, and reverse proxies.
• Experience with scripting (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation and monitoring.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex systems and work independently or within a team.
• Experience with installing ArcGIS Enterprise Server Roles (e.g., Image Server, GeoEvent Server, etc.)
• Ability to integrate SAML and IWA single sign-on with Portal for ArcGIS.
• Ability to set up a highly available ArcGIS Enterprise environment.

Preferred:

• Esri technical certifications (e.g., ArcGIS Enterprise Administration Professional).
• Familiarity with cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure) and deploying ArcGIS Enterprise in cloud or hybrid infrastructure.
• Experience with WebGIS DR tool, ArcGIS Monitor, or third-party monitoring tools.

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Geography, GIS, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3+ years of hands-on experience managing ArcGIS Enterprise systems in a production environment.
